Providing IT support to small businesses and home users
in Raleigh, RTP and surrounding areas.

Hello,

Unfortunately, if you’re reading this, you have found yourself in a position where you are in need of some type of computer assistance. Whether it’s a small computer problem, a failed or failing hard drive to setting up a wireless network with multiple pc's, I have the experience, knowledge and ability to help you resolve your problem.

I would like you to know upfront that I charge a flat fee per job, which is typically $85 per computer/issue (not including any hardware if needed). This way you know what the charge is from the beginning and you will never be "surprised" when you receive the bill.

Each job is unique in that the time required to perform the service will vary from pc to pc depending on multiple factors such as: age, processor speed, amount of memory installed, size of the hard drive and how much data it contains, etc. A typical reimage and reinstallation of the operating system, updates, anti-virus and anti-malware software and user data can take anywhere from 3-6 hours to complete properly. Take that into consideration when considering someone who charges by the hour.

The services I typically provide to my home users include, but are not limited to:

  1. Spyware, malware and virus removal - I will remove all “malware” and viruses from your pc, so that it performs as it should. No more annoying pop-ups, error messages or unwanted programs slowing your machine down. As with all of my services, I will make sure that your anti-virus software and anti-spamware software are up to date and working properly. If you do not have these programs, I will recommend and install an anti-virus and two anti-spamware programs which are free for your home use. These are programs that I not only recommend, but use myself at home.
  2. Reimage and reinstallation -of the hard drive, operating system, anti-virus and spamware programs and user data. This is typically performed when a hard drive is failing or if a hard drive was heavily infected with virus's or malware. I would prefer to take the extra time and make sure that your system is clean and performing as well as it can.
  3. Hardware installation, upgrades and troubleshooting.
  4. Home network installation and security configuration - Go to any computer store and the tech/sales reps there will tell you how easy it is to install a wireless modem or router and get connected to the internet. The one thing they don’t tell you is how to secure your network properly. And this is the most important aspect of a wireless network.  Too many times I have seen home users with their networks wide open to anyone who is within range. If your wireless network is not secured, someone can connect to it as far as a block away. Not only does this allow them to “piggyback” your network connection which you are ultimately responsible for, but it also allows them access to the data on your computers.
  5. Data recovery, migrations and backup solutions - Do you have a hard drive that has failed? Depending on the cause of the failure, there is a chance that your data may be able to be recovered. Would you like to install a larger hard drive and want to have the data moved to the new drive? Do you have data that needs to be backed up and not sure how to do it? I can help you.
  6. Custom built workstations and gaming computers.
  7. Remote Maintenance package - If you have a working broadband (cable modem or DSL modem) and can access the internet form your pc, I will perform a full spyware/virus check and removal. I will make sure your spyware/anti-virus is up to date and if you don’t have either installed, install 3 different programs. These are completely free for you to use at home and there are never any annual fees. I will perform a full system check and make sure that there are no hardware or software conflicts and remove any unnecessary programs that may be using up your system resources. 85% of computer problems are software related. A corrupt program, spyware, software/hardware conflicts and can be resolved remotely. I will make sure that your computer is running at it's top performance. This also includes a complete system clean up of temp files, browser cache and unneeded cookies. You will never have to unplug your machine and drag it into a shop or have it ready to be picked up. This typically takes 3-4 hours and can take longer with larger hard drives.
